Twine

I wanted to share some bookmarks. Twitter was only useful to broadcast new interesting bookmarks, but useless for organizing them, or having a conversation, or repartee, and, what's up with this 140 character limit? I started trying del.icio.us but jlo said it was limiting and dbrehmer turned me on to twine, which we now all love.

Twine a place for collecting clumps of bookmarks and commenting on them. Its kind of like tying little bits of twine to bundle up websites. Its still in invite-only beta. It needs work, its clumsy and inconsistent in places, tho' quite usable right now. The main clumsiness is really its whole raison d'etre, it also lets you upload photos and videos, and does social networking, sort of does everything but nothing, neither fish nor fowl. How they can communicate this in a show-me-don't-tell-me/don't-make-me-think way is their big problem, maybe solved by getting people like me to shanghai my friends into using it and then trying to explain it to them. How'd I do?

You can just use it to surf existing twine-bundles of websites, or you can create a private twine for your family, or a public twine about an area that you feel needs more coverage. Add the button to your web browser and add some websites to your twine. Or contribute to some of the twines me or other people started.
